Let’s be honest—being in front of a camera can feel awkward AF.
Maybe you’ve got a brand photoshoot coming up (or you know you need one, but you’re actively avoiding it 😬). And if the thought of posing makes you want to disappear into a hoodie forever, you’re not alone.
I hear it all the time:
👉🏻 “I feel so awkward in photos.”
👉🏻 “I never know how to pose.”
👉🏻 “What do I do with my hands?”
But guess what!? Looking confident in brand photos has nothing to do with being naturally photogenic. It’s about having the right approach, and the right photographer. And lucky for you, I’ve got some game-changing tricks to help you show up looking like a freakin’ boss!
Let’s get into it.
Confidence isn’t just about how you look—it’s about how you feel.
If you step into your brand shoot thinking, Ugh, I hate this, I’m so awkward, then…that’s gonna show.
Instead, shift your mindset:
🔥 Remind yourself why you’re doing this. These photos are going to help you grow your brand, attract dream clients, and elevate your business.
🔥 Think of it like showing up for your audience. They want to connect with the real you—so let them see you.
🔥 Trust your photographer. (hey! hi! 🤘🏻) My job isn’t just to snap pics—it’s to guide you, hype you up, and make sure you feel like a boss B’ in front of the camera.
Your posture says everything in a photo. Slouching? Closed-off body language? It’s giving “uncertain”.
Instead, try this:
✔️ Shoulders back, chin slightly lifted. Instant confidence boost.
✔️ Shift your weight slightly to one side. Helps you look more relaxed.
✔️ Create space between your arms & body. No squished arms, and a little separation makes a world of difference.
Want to feel extra powerful? Stand like a boss. Place your hands on your hips, widen your stance a little, and own it.
Practice in the mirror! (Or don’t. I will always guide you through posing, so don’t stress about it!)
One of the biggest mistakes people make? Over-posing.
You know that frozen “what do I do with my hands?!” moment? Let’s not do that.
Instead of holding a stiff pose, try:
✨ Walking toward the camera. Creates a dynamic, confident shot.
✨ Playing with your hair, adjusting your sleeves, fixing your jewelry. Tiny movements make a big difference.
✨ Laughing or reacting naturally. Even if it feels silly, those little moments translate to genuine confidence on camera. (For real, if you’ve ever been in front of my camera, you know I’ll be making you laugh for me!)
If you’re uncomfortable in what you’re wearing, it’s going to show. So when choosing outfits for your brand shoot, keep these tips in mind:
💡 Stick to what makes you feel amazing. If you wouldn’t wear it in real life, don’t force it for a photoshoot.
💡 Slightly Elevate. Since you’re investing in yourself and your brand, it makes sense to slightly elevate your outfits. Not so much that it doesn’t feel like you, but just enough that it’s the best version of yourself.
💡 Consider your brand colors. Your outfit should align with your brand aesthetic for a cohesive look.
And hey, if styling isn’t your thing? Let’s bring in a stylist to make sure you feel like your most confident self. (Seriously, this is my favorite game-changer for a session.)
The best brand photos? They don’t just “look” good—they feel like you.
Are you playful? Edgy? Polished? Whatever your brand vibe is—bring that energy into your photos.
Some fun ways to show your personality:
🎉 Use props that fit your vibe. Wine glass? Disco ball? Notebook? Whatever makes sense for your brand, let’s use it.
🎉 Play music during your shoot. A good playlist = instant confidence boost. (Don’t worry – I always bring the tunes with me!)
🎉 Think of it like a conversation, not a performance. You’re not posing for a high school yearbook—you’re just being YOU.
You don’t need to be a model. You don’t need to “know how to pose.” You just need the right strategy—and the right photographer who knows how to bring out your best.
Lucky for you, that’s exactly what I do. 🤘🏻
