So you booked your brand photoshoot (heck. yes.), but now you’re low key freaking out because…
I get it. I’ve been there, and I hear it ALL the time from clients. But, you’re in luck, because 1) you’re not a hairy green dude, and 2) I’ve put together some of my top tips for looking and feeling your best on photoshoot day.
Consider Your Brand Colors: Your photoshoot outfits should be a reflection of your brand colors and style. (We don’t want these images you invested in to clash with your website and socials – gasp!). If your brand is bright and bold, your clothing should be too. If your brand is more subdued and professional, neutrals may be your best bet.
Consider YOUR Colors: Your brand colors are important, but it’s also important to choose colors that bring out the best in you; flatter your skin tone, make your eyes sparkle, all that good stuff! If you’re not sure what these colors are, consider a consultation with a House of Colour Consultant (this is a SUPER fun process).
Choose Clothing That Fits Your Brand: At least one of your outfits for your session should be a reflection of your business and your brand. If you’re a fitness professioinial or personal trainer, then something sporty and casual would be a perfect choice. If you’re a realtor, you may want to opt for something business casual and sleek. If you have the option to wear multiple outfits for your session, consider a combination of outfits that range from comfy/casual (athleisure? yes please) all the way to business professional!
Accessories & Layers: Accessories are an easy way to add interest to your photos and make your look complete and polished. Hats and bags are super fun for showing off your personality! Layers can also add some interest and dimension – I love a good blazer that can be thrown on for a more tailored look, and removed for a more casual vibe.
Consult A Professional: A lot of photographers will offer to have a brief consultation with you before your session, to help choose your best outfits – this is an excellent resource! This may also be a good opportunity to treat-yo-self to a styling session at a local boutique or that Stitch Fix box you’ve been thinking about. I mentioned House of Colour before when we talked about your best colors, but they also offer a styling consultation, to help you figure out which styles are the best for your body shape and proportions. (I have no affiliation with House of Colour…I just love them 😁)
